Speaking of technology, did you know that you can navigate through all the past ICECUBES comic strips on the website by simply using your arrow keys? Try it! Just tap the back arrow and watch last week's comic pop right up! If you think that's amazing, you're right and it's all in large part thanks to a guy named Philip Hofer, otherwise known as Frumph.
Back in the day when I decided to put ICECUBES online, I had no idea how to design a website. So I did my best to cobble together a botchy WordPress site. Little by little, through intensive research I finally came across ComicPress. ComicPress was a way to publish comics that could be read online in an intuitive, user friendly way. Setting it up wasn't easy especially since I wanted to customize my page. That's when I reached out to Comicpress's creator Frumph. Lo and behold he didn't hesitate to teach me all kinds of things about php, css and sundry variables that would allow ICECUBES to end up looking the way it does today. Over the months and years Frumph was always there to help with coding. Recently he helped me with a new comics project I am about to launch.
So I decided to thank him in this post and point out that he now has a Patreon account where you too can get help with your comic site.
Hello friends! The year is almost over and it’s just about time to take a look back at everything ICECUBES has achieved in 2012. The one thing we can all agree on is that everyone wants more new strips! Of course, I do too. For now though I am basically a one man show, with help from my family and occasionally great people like Richard Evans at Bedrock City Comics.Sometimes things take a little longer than I would like and until ICECUBES is financially successful, making money for my family has to take precedence. So, the best way to see more strips more often is to support ICECUBES.Buy a book! It makes a great Christmas present that the whole family can enjoy! You can even get it at your local comic book store if you live in Houston, Chicago or New Orleans. If your store doesn’t carry it, ask them to! And if you want to buy a copy from me directly online, I’ll be sure to autograph it for you!
Just got back from Wizard World in New Orleans. ICECUBES the book “Noise Is News” was a big hit and we made lots of new fans. I want to thank all of you who stopped by the table, it was great to get a chance to talk with you.
The big news is that ICECUBES the book is now available in several comic book stores across the country!
First I would like to give a big thanks to Bedrock City Comics in Houston for featuring “Noise Is News” in all 4 of their stores! I would also like to thank Graham Crackers Comics in Chicago for carrying the book as well! And in New Orleans, you can buy the book at Crescent City Comics!
This is great news for ICECUBES fans! Support your local comic book shop and go get your new copy of “Noise Is News” at these fine stores! If you would like your store to feature ICECUBES the book, you can shoot me an email at icecubescomic@yahoo.com. For those of you who would prefer to order online, you should hurry, the few remaining copies of the first print run are going fast!
As some of you may know by now, ICECUBES the comic strip will be featured at Wizard World New Orleans Comicon. I will be signing the new book “Noise Is News” and limited quantities of the numbered artist edition will be available too. You can get your hands on some original ICECUBES art and merchandise as well! So if you are making the trip or happen to be in the neighborhood, be sure to stop at the ICECUBES table. OH, did I mention Stan Lee will be there too, and Eliza Dushku and Greg Capullo and Neal Adams and …
The brand new ICECUBES books are here! They look absolutely great. 100 pages featuring over 170 comic strips and more. Full color, offset printing for beautiful colors and that ‘real book’ look and feel. There are only 200 limited edition numbered copies and over half have already been sold. Be sure to get yours soon either by ordering online with Paypal or catching up with me at upcoming comic conventions. Here’s the Paypal link where you can buy your copy and I’ll even sign it for you! $15 per book, or $20 for the limited numbered artist edition.

Every now and then I’ll post something just for fun even if it’s kinda random. Here’s a 1947 add for Nash Motors. This is a beautiful example of the ‘streamline’ design style of the 30s and 40s period. A lot of trains, planes and cars had this type of design (even some buildings, ie: Chrysler Building). I think it represents a feeling of optimism, modern comfort, style and the idea of ‘going big’ that unfortunately is so lacking nowadays. Perhaps it might inspire us to dream about the past and imagine better things for the future.Nash Motors on Wikipedia.
